  The traditional & classic Opinel carbon steel pocket knife in a special gift box set. This famous knife is rich in history & has been in use for over 100 years by many alike. The carbon steel blade is very sharp & quite easy to sharpen. It's razor sharpness will cut through materials with ease, & is great for a number of uses! The blade locks in place with a simple turn of the stainless collar; it also locks into the handle for safety as well. The handsome Beechwood handle is stained & varnished for a most beautiful look. Included in this set is a sheath made of brown synthetic leather. The sheath can be closed with the button snap attached, & on the back is a vertical belt loop & steel carabiner. A very versatile, effective, & beautiful knife, this classic Opinel is one you'll most certainly treasure!

     High carbon steel is tougher & harder than stainless steels, making it ideal & desired for applications where durability is required, & where frequent regrinding is needed. Carbon steels are sharper & more durable, & have razor-sharp edges. Carbon steel in general is easy to re-sharpen as well when the need arises.

     Since carbon steel has superior cutting qualities due to it's hardness & toughness, it's resistance to corrosion caused by moisture is low as a result. Therefore, it is important to try and keep your carbon steel blades away from moist or damp environments as much as possible. It is also a good idea to occasionally wipe the blade with a light oil, such as mineral oil from time to time. It is also a good idea to wipe the blade dry after each use.
